Achievements

Our Achievements to Date

Family Mediation   

  • Over 150 couples (from Quebec, Ontario and the U.S.) have been seen in our family mediation services in over 500 sessions with approximately 75% obtaining a mediated agreement in their separationand/or divorce preceedings
  • Mediation sessions have also successfully re-united family members and helped parents and their adolescents effectively deal with their conflicts
  • In several cases, mediation has been successfully used to resolve disputes between children and their aging parents
  • In a few cases mediation has been conducted by  'long distance' telephone contact between the parties. We have yet to use web cams and computers.

Parent-Child Assisted Access Program

  • Started in 2001, over 200 families have utilized our services involving well over 250 children and  over 2000 visits taking place on our premises, on outings and n the home with the assistance of one of our facilitators. We have also arranged in excess of 200 exchanges between parents.
  • A high percentage of our families have succeeded in normalizing their parent child relations and have ceased using supervised access.
  • Nearly ten families have made use of our mediation services to find more  viable and mutually agreeable  arrangements in maintaing family contact

 Training and Presentations

  • Nearly 50 professionals (social workers, psychologists, lawyers, counselors) have been trained as family mediators
  • Over 30 professionals have been trained in conducting psychosocial assessments with families of divorce
  • A Peer mediation Program has been implemented in two schools (elementary and high school)
  • Training manuals have been developed for both the PCAAP and Parenting Coordination
  • Numerous presentations have been made at conferences, to professional groups, on radio and in print promoting the benefits of family mediation and collaborative parenting. The Montreal Gazette printed three articles on our programs in the past three years.
  • Two articles have been published in reputable professional journals (Quebec and Canada)

Parenting Coordination

  • Both Dominic D'Abate andMarie Josée Gamache have been trained in Atlanta Georgia in working with high conflict families through and implementing a Parenting Coordination service to parents in Quebec. So far five cases have been referred to us (some court ordered) with much success.
  • We are a member of the National Association of Parenting Coordination and are planning to offer training in Quebec and Canada.
