Co-Parenting Seminars
These seminars will be offered to parents who are in the process of separating and who wish to create more viable and enduring parenting relationships. These seminars will consist of two sessions and focus on the overall impact of the separation on the parents and children as well as how to survive the break-up in creating a climate of collaboration and mutual respect in the best interest of the children involved. The first session will deal with the psychological, social and economic impact of the break-up and the needs of the children while the second session will tackle issues of communication and conflict resolution and the building positive co-parenting plans. The overall aim is to strengthen and normalize families relations.
Cooperative Parenting Group
This group will bring together parents who are struggling through the turmoil of divorce and who are experiencing serious difficulties in relating to each other as parents. In six sessions, parents will receive the necessary tools and skills to help them successfully navigate the road to co-parenting. An opportunity will also be given to explore feelings and behaviours and share their personal experiences with other parents in an atmosphere of mutual support and help.
Other groups and seminars relating to anger management, living in a re-constituted family and self help group for divorcing parents with young children or adlescents will be made available as the need arises. Another group for parents whose children are in our Parent Child Assisted Access Program is being planned.
